Based on the rules of the Method, all our selected products are free from drying alcohol, sulfates and soap as well as silicones, waxes and mineral oils.

Cleansing Agents

Not every conditioner is recommended for co-wash. A good co-wash should contain cationic surfactants or at least natural ingredients with cleansing characteristics. If you are searching for a co-wash you should select cationic surfactants. Don't forget to deselect nonionic surfactants.

If you are searching for a low-poo, you should select nonionic surfactants. If you are using co-wash only, always deselect nonionic surfactants. If you are using low-poo regularly, and nonionic surfactants are not a concern in other products, leave this selection free.

If you are looking for an all-natural cleansing option, you should deselect 'low poo surfactants' and 'co-wash surfactants' and select 'natural cleansing ingredients' instead. Natural cleansing ingredients include clay, mineral earth or healing earth but also lavender, tea tree or ACV and further.

Botanical hold-giving ingredients provide moderate hold but may also be non-vegan or act as a humectant. Keep in mind that synthetic polymers, while giving the strongest hold, are bad for the environment. Please choose carefully and considerately.

A humectant can be a Curlies best friend and greatest enemy at the same time! They keep our hair well moisturized for days, but when your hair is badly damaged or naturally high por we recommend checking the local dew-point to avoid frizz.

Keep in mind a small amount of a heavy oil might be better than a large amount of a light oil!

If your hair is damaged we recommend choosing bigger proteins like quinoa or jojoba. If your hair is all-natural you may not need bigger protein. Smaller ones like amino acids, silk, avocado, hazelnut, soy, corn, milk, oat or wheat may be enough.
